REC Limited came into being in 1969 in response to a pressing need of the nation. During the time of severe drought, the leaders sought to reduce the dependency of agriculture on monsoons by energising agricultural pump-sets for optimized irrigation. Thereafter, they have ventured into newer paths and expanded their horizons to emerge today as a leader in providing financial assistance to the Power sector in all segments, be it Generation, Transmission or Distribution.

  • On June 4, 2021, REC Power Distribution Company Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited under the Ministry of Power, handed over two project-specific Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) Fatehgarh Bhadla Transco Limited and Sikar New Transmission Limited to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited.
  • On June 1, 2021, REC Ltd. reported quarterly net profit at Rs 2,077.84 crores in March 2021; up 338.37% from Rs 473.99 crores in March 2020.
  • On June 1, 2021, REC Ltd. reported net sales at Rs 9,211.46 crores in March 2021; up 17.47% from Rs 7,841.48 crores in March 2020.
  • On May 25, 2021, REC Ltd., through its CSR arm REC Foundation, has signed an MoA with Chief Medical Officer, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, committing financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.85 crores under its CSR initiative. As part of the project, 1000 liters per minute oxygen generation plant will be set up at Base Hospital, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. Along with that, 22 oxygen concentrators and 200 fowler beds with wheels will also be provided to the hospital, increasing its bed capacity from 250 to 450.
  • On April 9, 2021, REC Ltd., through its CSR arm REC Foundation, has committed financial assistance to the tune of Rs 1.01 crores under its CSR initiative to Haryana CSR Advisory Board. As part of the project, more than 10,000 candidates in 5 districts of Haryana will be provided assistance for accessing the digital platforms of more than 80 central and state competitive examinations along with 250 hours of preparation and practice in various subjects and unlimited access to online mock tests. The project is also aimed at ensuring equal opportunity of employment for candidates by providing them training in accessing various job openings online.
